Even if I seemed outwardly composed, inside I was tense.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you have <a href=\"https:\/\/tinybuddha.com\/blog\/inside-a-panic-attack-what-its-like-when-anxiety-strikes\/\">faced panic attacks<\/a>, you might relate to this sensation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The racing heartbeat, the dizziness, and the sudden impression that something dreadful is about to happen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It&#8217;s not merely bothersome\u2014it\u2019s frightening.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most individuals who face panic share the conviction I once held:<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>There must be something fundamentally wrong with my body.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But the realization I came to eventually transformed everything.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Your Body Isn&#8217;t the Adversary<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The initial concept that altered my perspective was this: panic symptoms\u00a0<em>feel<\/em>\u00a0threatening, but they are not.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They signify your nervous system raising a red flag.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When we recognize a threat, the body triggers a survival response known as\u00a0fight-or-flight. Adrenaline surges, the heart races, breathing accelerates, and muscles prepare for action.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This response evolved to ensure human survival.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When our ancestors confronted danger, such as escaping a predator, immediate physiological reactions were essential. When the nervous system is functioning well, the\u00a0rest-and-digest mechanism\u00a0restores the body to tranquility once the threat subsides.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, continuous stress disturbs this balance. The fight-or-flight response becomes overactive, leaving the rest-and-digest response ineffective.
